
John M. Brett, he/hym/hys, grew up in a wheat farm in North Central Washington where his Norwegian great great grandfather co-founded a Lutheran Church. Since 2014, he has accompanied unhoused neighbors & members of the street community in the Bay Area, including as the former Program Director of The Gubbio Project & as a Chaplain with the San Francisco Night Ministry.
As the Community Programs Director & SF Night Ministry’s Faithful&Fabulous Minister, he facilitates programs such as Open Cathedral & Open Sangha in the streets & programs to benefit LGBTIQ+ communities.
Prior to seminary, John completed his BA in Spanish & Performance Studies at Dartmouth College & served as the Executive Director of a regional legal aid program in Washington State. His favorite ministry experience to date involves offering spiritual care while in drag at a taco truck, which later led to founding the Castro Drag Street Eucharist..
